At Harvest, living a bountiful life also means sharing our bounty with North Texans in need. Since our first residents moved here in 2014, our community has donated more than 23,000 meals to the North Texas Food Bank — a number that grows with each passing month.
While holiday food drives and other seasonal events continue to play an important role in the food bank’s outreach efforts, we don’t wait for the holidays to help those in need. From our three garden plots that Farmer Ross cultivates to the bumper crop from our weekly farmers market, we regularly share fresh produce with the North Texas Food Bank. In addition, canned goods are often the price of admission for Harvest events, and neighborhood scavenger hunts give Harvest Littles a chance to have fun while collecting canned goods. We also raise financial contributions through such events as our Run Now, Gobble Later turkey trot event, making the most of every dollar by making our donations on #GivingTuesday to secure matching funds.
Our goal for 2017, was to provide 10,000 meals. We more than doubled that goal thanks to the generosity of the Harvest community!
