Buyers who choose Harvest by Hillwood for their new home select a community that is different from other master-planned communities.
With homes in both Argyle and Northlake, TX, our 1,200-acre agrihood is the first of its kind in North Texas. Our community is a unique hybrid unlike any other. It was born of a desire to hold on to one of the best parts of our heritage–the farming traditions of North Texas and the simple pleasures of country living. Yet we live in the modern world and require the technology that will allow us to work and live in the 21st century. Harvest melds the two seamlessly into the perfect blend of nostalgia and today’s modern updated homes.
Families who appreciate farm-to-table living and want to be a part of an agricultural community are excited to call Harvest home! Let’s review what makes Harvest such a special place to live.
Our 1,200-acre community of new homes is built on the site of the homestead of John and Etta Faught. They arrived here by train and wagon from Tennessee in 1877 to start their family. The Faught family worked their farm in Denton country for five generations.
More than 100 years ago, John built the two-story farmhouse that still stands at the heart of Harvest today. It remains as a tribute to the family’s hard work and dedication. The old house serves as a reminder of the Faught’s passion for farming and inspires all who come after to keep North Texas’s farming tradition alive.
Harvesters love to make things grow and gardening nourishes the soul of our community. If you don’t already know, the centerpiece of Harvest is a real, working farm run by a professional farmer! It’s a big operation and Farmer Ross keeps it running like a well-oiled machine.
Some of the produce grown at the commercial farm becomes part of a community supported agriculture (CSA) program, which allows consumers to have an assortment of fresh produce, sourced from several local farms, delivered to their door on a regular basis. Harvest residents who use this subscription service love receiving fresh, just-picked seasonal produce, they love supporting small local farms, and they love the delicious recipes they get along with their produce delivery!
Our community garden is also part of the Harvest Farm. Harvest residents can work in the garden as much or as little as they like under the supervision of Farmer Ross, who directs them as they plant, tend, and harvest the produce. Everything grown in the community garden is donated to the North Texas Food Bank.
Another part of the Harvest Farm is our orchards which house apple, plum, pear, pecan, and fig trees. When the time is right, our lifestyle manager organizes a fun community picking event where residents get to share in the abundance of the farm and enjoy the fruits of their labor, literally!
The Harvest Farm also offers private, raised garden plots. Harvest residents can reserve a private plot where they can plant their own vegetables, fruits, and flowers. Even residents with no gardening experience can plant a garden because Farmer Ross is available to answer questions and offer guidance.
For those who want to learn more about gardening, Farmer Ross offers gardening classes for Harvest residents, often geared towards making the most of each planting season. His fun and educational classes cover a variety of topics including beneficial insects, soil management, and farm-to-table cooking plus classes specifically designed for kids.
The Harvest community has some pretty special amenities that you probably won’t find in most other neighborhoods.
Not many residential communities boast a building that is over 100 years old. Many years ago, John Faught built the two-story farmhouse that still stands at the heart of Harvest today. It remains as a tribute to the Faught family’s passion for farming and inspires all who come after to keep North Texas’s farming tradition alive.
Situated in the restored 142-year-old Faught home, Farmhouse Coffee & Treasures is the perfect place to meet, greet, enjoy a coffee or a treat, browse among the interesting finds, and just relax. Oh, and stop by for breakfast on Saturday!
Our pools are some of the most beautiful we’ve seen, and there are four of them! Harvest residents can go to a different pool every week and not repeat for a month! Jump right in, relax in a cabana, or get some sun in a deck chair.
More choices for Harvest residents—two 24-hour fitness facilities! The original fitness center (located at the Harvest Hub) boasts a yoga lawn overlooking Harvest Lake and huge, rolling doors that can let the fresh air in on beautiful days.
The brand-new indoor-outdoor fit barn features an indoor equipment room, an outdoor exercise lawn, plus volleyball and basketball courts. (One of Harvest’s four pools is also right outside.) Between the two fitness facilities, there are 50 exercise classes planned each month!
Harvest’s award-winning lifestyle program sets it apart from other Argyle/Northlake master-planned communities. Our Lifestyle Director plans and hosts more than 300 events each year for our residents to enjoy! Some examples include movie nights, happy hours, children’s events, craft classes, concerts, market days, teen events, educational classes, community dinners, holiday parties, and much, much more!
